How to Build a Fire

Top Down Fire | Top Down Lighting | How to Start a Fire in a Wood Stove.  How to build a fire with the helpful advice from Jotul!  This simple video will help you start your Jotul wood stove easier and faster!
Please watch the video for details and steps to starting a top down fire in your Jotul wood stove.

Top Down Fire Steps:

1.  Step One: Begin with the biggest pieces of firewood and begin stacking them from the bottom of the firebox up.
2.  Step Two: Next, transitioning from large pieces to smaller pieces. Stack the smaller pieces perpendicular to the larger pieces.  Top the stack with wood kindling alternating from parallel to perpendicular stacking for best airflow.  Again, please refer  to the video for a demonstration.  Add dried wood chips to the top of the kindling.
3.  Step Three: Important Note:  Never stack the wood above the fireplace opening.
